How do I download Life Design Books software?
To download our software simple click here and follow the prompts. Our software will run on a PC with Windows installed or on a Mac operating systems. Back to top
Colour Management
We recommend using having a calibrated monitor and using files in sRGB color space for the best color reproduction, our digital printing presses use a CMYK toner based printing process when images are converted to CMYK we use the standard ISO Coated V2 profile.
Image reproduction will vary to what is viewed on your monitor, while all efforts are used in colour management we can not guarantee accurate reproduction of RGB images. Back to top
Sending my book by disk
Please download the Order Form and then create your book. Once you have finished you book please click Send to LifeDesign.
You will then be asked to proof your book by viewing a PDF file. Once happy with your book click Continue. You will then be presented with the option of saving you book to disk, click on 'I prefer to bring these files with me to the store'
You will then be guided through saving your book to your computer which can then be trasfered to disk. Once you have saved you book to Disk or USB please attach the Order From with your details and send it to:

We will then send you an email to acknowledge that we have received you book and send you a Website link to process payment. Back to top
Download time and software size?
Both our Album software and Calendar. Card and Canvas software will take approximately 5 to 10 minutes to download depending on your operating system and internet connection. If you find that this is taking too long please email cd@lifedesignbooks.com.au and we will send you a CD of the software.
Once downloaded the software will create an icon on your desktop for fast access. Back to top
Low resolution warning
If you have received a low resolution warning that looks like the example below:
This means that your image has a low DPI (dots per inch). Our printer is set up to be able to deal with this type of scenario however we cannot guarantee the result. Please remember that a normal computer screen operates at around 72 DPI so while images may appear clear on your computer the print quality may not.
The easiest option to avoid this is to make sure that all images are 300DPI or higher. If images are taken straight from a digital camera then most operate well above the 300DPI. Back to top
What is the ordering process?
After creating your photoalbum using the software you will generate an album file that needs to be sent Life Design Books through our upload facility called 'sendbooks' for printing. If you have broadband you can do this online, (you can do it with a dialup connection, however the files generated by the software are typically over 20 megabytes and this would take a long time), or alternatively you can put the file on CD and send that to us. Payment can be made online or via direct payment.
Once we have received your file and payment we will print, bind and post back your Album, Card, Calendar, Poster or Canvas. Back to top
How do I send the file to you?
The photo album software creates an encrypted file, which is the files you open each time you wish to view or work on your book. When you are ready to generate your finished book, the photo album software creates a file which automatically starts uploading to Life Design Books through our high capacity facility called ‘sendbooks’. You can do this by uploading it if you have broadband, or by creating a CD and posting it to us if you have a low speed internet connection. Postal address details are provided at the time of order. Remember that you will be able to view a low resolution PDF file of your work, for final proofing, before uploading. Back to top
Can I order multiple copies?
Yes you may order as many as you like. When you get to our check out just select the number you would like. Back to top
Is your payment method secure?
Yes – your payment goes through a secure credit card facility hosted by Westpac Banking Corporation via Send Books which uses eway to process payments online. You can pay by credit card online or by phone. Back to top
How much will my album cost?

How long does it take until I receive my photoalbum?
Your photo album will be posted within 12 days from the time we receive your files and payment and you should receive your order within 21 days. We offer an express post service for those in a hurry.. Back to top
Do you ship internationally?

Do I need to resize the image? (if they are larger than 300DPI)
NO. The software will resize the images to fit 300DPI before creating the PDF file and sending to print. Back to top
Are there discounts for larger orders?

The preview for my calendar looks out of order...why is that?
Certain calendar types (the centre fold calendars) require double sided printing. In order to maintain the correct format for the printing, cutting, and binding of the calendar, thus the pages may appear to be out of order but they are not. The purpose of this preview is for you to look at the calendar to determine if your layout is OK: spelling, text in place, right images selected, layout etc. Back to top
Why does my receipt say Sendtobooks?
Life Design Books receipts will appear as sendtobooks on your records. This is due to us using a secure payment system through eway. Back to top
Opening In Vista
The issue is Vista's new UAC (User Account Control) which will restrict the application regardless of which user it is running under. In the control panel under users you can turn off User Account Control. Alternatively, when launching the application, right-click the application and on the menu select "run as administrator". Download of Mac Software
If you have downloaded the software and appear to be getting a folder titled "Contents", with no application to run, please try the following steps.
- In Safari go to the Safari Menu under Safari Preferences.
- Under the general tab Uncheck "Open safe files on download" Then redownload the software. This should put a zip file in the location where you download files.
- You can then double click on the zip file and it should extract the program file.
*If double clicking does not produce the application but again results in the "contents" folder please ctrl+click on the zip file downloaded and choose to open with BOMArchiver. This situation results from a problem with the way that Safari handles zip files and their permissions. You may also experience this with other browsers such as Firefox, however this is much less common. Back to top
